HOPE

The real point of Christmas is the birth of Jesus Christ, the ‘Hope of the World’. The Church
reminds us that Christ is the Word who became flesh (He is both man and God) and came to live
among us. This is known as the ‘Incarnation’. It’s a blessing to have hope. Ask your child what
the word ‘hope’ means to them. Can they remember a time when they faced something difficult
and someone (or maybe their faith) gave them hope? Each of you share who or what gives you
hope when times are tough. Can you also remember a time when you were able to give hope
to someone else?
Jesus Christ is God’s greatest gift to the world. His wonderful birth — and indeed his whole life,
death, and resurrection — bear witness to the fact that He is the Son of God. He is our hope
in this life and in the life to come. The hope Christ gives can sustain us through life’s greatest
difficulties, and we can grow in that hope through praying and learning about Him. As we are
filled with hope and strengthened, we are then able to bring hope and good news to others.
As we embark on a new year, let’s consider if there is someone we know who is sad or
troubled, and how we might bring hope to that person or those people. Blessings and best
wishes to you and your family for 2026.
Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for coming into our world to fill
our lives with Your light. Please help us to be open to receive
and to share Your hope with those around us. Amen.
